Full course description
This workshop is part of a three-part series of workshops focused on educating and training future leaders to be prepared for the next pandemic and to build on current responses to Covid-19 and emerging variants. This is a grant-awarded pilot project funded by the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL). You may take each of the three workshops sequentially or separately. The program is 12 hours total (based on individual progress).
In this workshop, you will be introduced to viruses, the immune system, and antiviral vaccines. The development and production of traditional vaccines using attenuated or inactivated viruses as well as mRNA-based vaccines are covered. Asynchronic videos are followed by synchronically remote laboratory experiences and discussions.
